Competitive Climbing Team

Our more rigorous competitive team is designed for advanced and dedicated climbers ages 8-18 who are prepared to condition themselves for the sport of climbing at the competitive level.

Our Competitive Climbing Team strives to instill each participant with a love for climbing and to recognize the sport as a fun, lifelong form of recreation that maintains health and provides a sense of adventure most other sports cannot.

The team is coached by our professional USAC climbing coaches who develop structured training regimens consisting of advanced climbing technique, climbing specific strength training, injury prevention, strength workouts, and team building.

While within a fun environment, as the kids get stronger and grow as individuals as well as climbers, the focus on competing is ongoing as the team trains for local, regional, divisional, and national level USA Climbing competitions.

The Competitive Climbing Team is designed for dedicated climbers ages 8-18 who are interested in training and competing at a higher level. Athletes should be motivated to improve their climbing skills, physical fitness, and competition performance.

No. Competitive Team athletes are required to attend a minimum of two practices per week, and there is not a separate one-day-per-week pricing option.

Consistent training is essential for developing climbing technique, strength, movement skills, and competition readiness. Attending at least twice per week allows athletes to build on what they learn from practice to practice and make meaningful progress throughout the season. The team training program is designed around this level of commitment, and regular attendance is one of the biggest factors in long-term improvement.

Absolutely. There’s always a tryout week before the season starts back up in the fall where kids who are interested can come and see what it’s all about.

If you’re child is interested in joining during the school year, we allow kids to come in for one of the practices and treat it as a trial.

Absolutely! We welcome climbers of all ages who are interested in training and being part of the team.

That said, it’s important to have realistic expectations. Older athletes who are new to competitive climbing may be competing against climbers their age who have been training and competing for many years. As a result, podium finishes and championship qualifications may be more challenging to achieve right away.

However, competition is only one aspect of the program. Team members benefit from high-level coaching, structured training, improved climbing technique, increased strength and fitness, goal setting, and being part of a supportive community of motivated climbers. Many athletes join the team not because they expect to win immediately, but because they want to become stronger climbers and challenge themselves in a competitive environment.

If you’re unsure whether the Competitive Team is the right fit, we’d be happy to discuss your climber’s experience and goals.
