who

Spring Rope League is open to all

Cost

  • Free. Be sure to register below, or at the desk.
  • Purchase a league t-shirt for an optional $25 during registration.

How it Works

  • There will be option to participate in teams of 3 and/OR an individual category.
  • Teams of 3 will compete to send their hardest rope climbs, earning points in the process with the hope of out-scoring other teams. Rope routes will be labelled with a point value instead of a grade.
  • Everyone on each team will automatically be entered into the individual category along with anyone else who is not on a team.
  • Participants will earn points for each route they send, which they will record on the provided digital scorecard.
  • Sends must be verified by obtaining a witnesses’ initials on the scorecard.
  • New routes will open on Monday and will remain active to score points on for at least 7 days, after which, those routes will revert to our standard grading and points can no longer be earned.
  • Teams are welcome to climb and track their points every day during the league. You don’t need to be at the gym at the same time as the rest of your team, just make sure you have someone witness your climb!

  • Teams will only be in groups of 3. If you do not have 3 people you can enter into the individuals category.
  • Please have a Team Name finalized when you sign up, so that we can appropriately group you with your Team.
  • Teams will compete in Recreational, Intermediate and Advanced categories. You do not need to register for a category. Your category will be determined by your team’s final score.
  • Keep in mind, you do not need to be at the gym at the same time as the rest of your team!

  • As new routes are set during the League, they will be labelled with a point value instead of a grade. To earn points, teammates will complete applicable routes and record the point value of each route on their scorecard. Each set will remain active to score points on for at least 7 days, after which time those routes will revert to standard grading and points can no longer be earned.
  • If you send a route on lead, you earn an additional 20 points. To indicate this on your scorecard, have your witness check the ‘Lead’ box. Do not adjust the point value of the climb – we will do this during scorekeeping.
  • The total of your top send from each week throughout the League will determine your Individual Score. (We will drop the lowest week’s score).
  • Individual Scores of each teammate will be averaged together to determine the Team Score.
  • In the event of a tie, each teammate’s attempts will be totalled and compared to the other team.

  • To earn points on a climb, you must complete it in one go, also called a “send.”
  • Criteria for a send:
    1. Climbers may only use holds that are part of their route to help them progress towards the finish. All routes will be monochromatic.
    2. In order to complete a climb, the climber must show control of the top of the wall or the finish hold(s) with both hands. All top rope and lead routes will finish with both hands on top of the wall. Auto belay routes will finish on a finish hold or hold(s).
    3. Climbs must be completed “clean,” that is, without falling, or the belayer holding the weight of the climber at any time.
    4. You must have a witness to sign off that you sent the climb. This could be anyone as long as they can visually confirm that you completed the route in accordance with the above criteria.

  • Attempts will be used as a tie-breaker for those who have the same point value accrued.
  • Every time a climber pulls onto the wall counts as an attempt. For example, if a climber falls 6 times while initially projecting a route, and sends it the next day in one go, that would count as 7 total attempts to complete the route in it’s entirety without any falls.
  • If a climber ‘flashes’ the climb, or completes it on the first try, it is considered 1 attempt.
