Welcome to Central Rock Gym Troy Night Out!
We wanted to have a night to invite our neighbors over to get to show you all what the heck is going on inside that new building on River Street, what the sport of rock climbing is, and what it and its community members have to offer!

FAQs
- If this is your first time visiting our facility, we’re happy to have ya. At our location, we have multiple different kinds of climbing available to participants of any skill or experience level. To list the broad categories, we have:
-
Bouldering:
- Bouldering is climbing on shorter walls without the use of ropes. It relies on thicker pads on the ground to help break the fall of a climber, and typically has more difficult movement
- Bouldering requires no prior experience, and we provide a video orientation to get participants up to speed
-
Auto-belays:
- Auto-belays are used to get individuals onto the taller walls if they don’t have prior knowledge, experience, or a partner to climb with
- Staff provide the orientation on how to use auto-belays on request, but the person clipping the climber in and out must be 13 or older
- Individuals under 13 are still allowed to climb on the system as long as the carabiners are being handled by someone of age that has received the orientation
-
Rope Climbing:
- Rope climbing, or most commonly Top Rope, is a form of climbing requiring two individuals where one handles the knot tying and climbing while the other sets up the belay device and keeps the rope tight for the climber
- Rope climbing can be done with an experienced belayer that ties in an inexperienced climber and then belays for them, or can be done with two proficient participants
- If you don’t have prior experience with Top Rope, you can chat with a staff member to get more information on class times and how we can get you signed up!
- Rope climbing, or most commonly Top Rope, is a form of climbing requiring two individuals where one handles the knot tying and climbing while the other sets up the belay device and keeps the rope tight for the climber
To save you some time in the facility, you can fill out a Participation Agreement, a Facility and Bouldering Orientation Form, and an Auto-Belay Orientation Form for yourself and any minors that you may be bringing with you ahead of time. Less paperwork in the gym=more time to climb!

Absolutely. An individual using a guest pass on their first ever visit will receive a free visit, but any individuals returning to a CRG and using a guest pass will be charged a 50% day pass.
