Who needs hands to climb?

Look Ma, No Hands is an annual event, occurring every year in June. The 2026 event will take place on:

CRG cordially invites you to the worlds most counter intuitive climbing competitions ever – a hands free one. Join us for an evening of progressively more and more precise, technically demanding, and sometimes downright funky slab climbing, and earn the chance to win some dope prizes!

A 3 hour slab competition
Balance & precision based fitness challenges for bonus points

Registration

  • Registration will open on April 30th, 2026, at 6:00 PM.
  • We are accepting the first 75 participants
  • Registration for the competition must be done via the Calendar at the bottom of this page.

Schedule

6:15 – 6:45 PM – Check in
6:45 – 7:00 PM – Rules announcement
7:00 – 10:00 PM – Hands free slab climbing
10:15 PM – 10:30 PM – Winners announced, prizes distributed

FAQs

One of our slab sections will be set with climbs of various difficulties, and designed to be done with one specific and important modification – climbers may not touch the holds with their hands.

Each climb is assigned a point value based on difficulty, and will also have zones that allocate a percentage of the maximum score for that climb upon establishing control of said zone.

Climbers can try each climb as many times as they like within the timeframe of the competition.

The person with the highest overall score wins! The number of attempts will be used to break ties.

Yup! The gym will be open for Members and Day Pass climbers alike to climb everywhere except for the area impacted by the comp.

The entire “left slab”, “right slab”, fitness area, and training boards will be unavailable to non-competitors. The “horseshoe” of the bouldering area will be completely open for everyone else to use.

 

Yes, this competition will be open to competitors 13 years old or older.
