Our non-competitive teams offer kids a fantastic opportunity to get involved in the sport of climbing without the pressure of competition and intense training of the more advanced climbing teams. The Non-Competitive programs are split up into two groups: Climbing Club and Recreational Team. Each is geared toward new climbers and recreational climbers alike who have an interest in participating in the sport and even to improve their abilities over time. Both teams are coached by our professional staff who create a fun and relaxed environment while emphasizing the fundamentals of climbing, such as warming up, basic technique, balance, strength training, mental strategy, and team building. These teams are guaranteed to introduce kids to others with their same level of interest and form lasting relationships within our young climbing community.
Climbing Club – Designed for new climbers ages 7-12 who both want to climb and/or want to become better climbers but don’t want to commit to the longer, more strenuous practices. This team is all about developing the basics. It is designed by the coaches to provide kids with basic technique, instruction, and climbing to enhance their knowledge of the sport. Sessions will include warm up exercises, stretches, both bouldering and top rope climbing, and plenty of games and activities. Ensuring a safe and fun time for all, this program is well-staffed with at least one coach for every five kids. Climbing Club is run by head coach Erica Flynn (firstname.lastname@example.org) on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays from 4-6 pm. There is also a 9-11 am session on Sunday mornings. Kids have the option to attend one, two, or three times per week. Please email to further inquire about the program and to check current openings or make a reservation below. Flexible options exist so that you can test out the sport without having to make a full dedication to climbing; this is an ideal place to start!
Recreational Team – Our Recreational Team is designed for kids ages 10-18 who have advanced out of Climbing Club because they are strong climbers and/or have a desire to become better climbers. This team provides a great environment for those who are both interested in learning more and are motivated to become stronger, more technical climbers without competition being mandatory. Sessions consist of a substantial warm up, climbing drills to hone in on different techniques and build strength, group workouts, and team building activities. USAC climbing coach Rob Perron (email@example.com) is the head coach of Training Team. The program is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-7 pm as well as from 9-11 am on Sundays. Participants have the option to attend one, two, or three times per week.
