Have you conquered the top ropes at Central Rock to a point where 5.9 is starting to feel easy and are ready for a new challenge? Learn how to lead climb in our Lead Climbing Class!
Lead climbing is a more advanced style of climbing (similar to what you’d experience outdoors) that involves pulling your rope up behind you (rather than handing from above) and clipping your rope into fixed gear on the wall. The class will consist of climbing 5-6 routes in the 5.7-5.9 range, practicing clipping and lead belaying.
Must be belay certified for AT LEAST 6 months
You must climb 5.9 or higher consistently before taking the class
Must have: Belay device ATC style belay device (the gym can provide for the class if needed), lead capable harness and must be top-rope belay certified prior to the class
Registration in advance required
Includes one-month free rope usage
$80 – Members (FREE for members after six months of fully paid membership dues)
$100 – Non-members
If you cannot make a class during the normally scheduled times, we can run private classes as long as we have at least 3 people who want to take the class, but there is no “free” option for 6-month+ members.
