Introductory Belay Class
Come take our Intro Belay Class. Learn to ‘belay’; the method of securing a climber on rope. You’ll also learn the knots and devices used to safely climb. This is required to use the ‘top rope’ walls without a staff member.
Staffed Climbing
During Staffed Climbing, staff will take you out on high wall ‘top rope’ climbing in any area of our facility. You can climb and they will manage your safety while giving you advice for making it to the top.

Lead Climbing Class
Learn our third and most advanced type of climbing offered in the gym. During lead climbing, one person uses a rope off the ground to belay for a climber who clips to the wall for safety until they reach the top.
Hold Usage, Sequencing & Body Position Technique Class
This class introduces climbers to various types of holds and how to use/grip them. This class includes a brief overview of body position and the relationship between hold position. With a focus on route reading and sequencing, this class will set any climber up for success before they even get off the ground!
Footwork & Balance Technique Class
In the sport of climbing, footwork is one of the most important (if not the most important) techniques that will help to improve your climbing. This class focuses on the relationship between your center of gravity and base of support and how it pertains to your footwork.
Movement & Efficiency Technique Class
Climbing is about the balance and economy of movement. This class covers the basics of climbing movement as it changes over varying terrain. Taking this class will give you a strong foundation of understanding with respect to movement initiation and direction of movement.
Antagonist Training & Technique
This class covers the common themes of climbing related injuries and educates climbers on training methods and best practices for avoiding injury. While injuries are likely to occur at some point for any climber, this class focuses on how to avoid them and strengthen your body, both on and off the wall.
Private Instruction
Central Rock Syracuse now offers private instruction across disciplines to customize your training. We have a number experienced staff able to work with you individually and help you achieve your climbing, fitness and/or yoga related goals.
