Read on for answers to some of the most commonly asked questions we’ve heard about re-opening. Have a question that you don’t see below? Email us at syracuse@centralrockgym.com.
How is the facility different after re-opening?
Some of the most notable changes are required face coverings, required reservations to climb, prominent signage, plenty of hand sanitizing stations, and increased air flow through the facility. We are also providing free liquid chalk to our guests.
I live with someone high-risk. What are you doing to minimize risk of COVID transmission?
We are closely following New York’s Sports and Recreation regulations which you can read about here. We are also self-imposing a guest capacity far below the state’s requirement to ensure that all our visitors can maintain a distance well above 6′ apart.
I’d like to learn to belay. How do I reserve a lesson?
Please talk to our front desk staff, call (315)671-4450, or email syracuse@centralrockgym.com. We are adding classes on a case by case basis.
I want to stay longer than 2 hours; what should I do?
Since we are keeping ourselves far below capacity, it is likely that you can extend your visit beyond 2 hours. Just check in with a staff member so we can give you the OK.
Am I allowed to book multiple sessions back-to-back?
Yes. This is a great option if you want a longer visit.
I forgot my mask! Do you have extra PPE?
Yes. We are currently providing complimentary disposable face masks as needed.
Can I bring my kids?
Yes, children who are old enough to wear face masks should do so. Please supervise them to ensure they stay at least 6′ from other guests at all times.
Is rental gear available?
Yes. At this time, we are asking everyone to bring their own gear for sanitary purposes. However, if you need rental gear, we will provide it.
Is loose chalk still allowed?
Yes, but we would encourage you to try out the liquid chalk placed conveniently throughout the facility. It works really well! Just make sure to let it air dry before touching any holds or pads. Liquid chalk cuts down on air particulates and has a high alcohol content to help keep your hands more clean.
Where can I go to take off my mask?
Outside would be best. If you are able to maintain 12 ft apart from those around you, discreetly pulling down your mask to take a sip of water is perfectly fine.
If I am a member, can I bring a guest?
Yes, members are welcome to use their once a month guest pass. it is completely free for first time visitors on a guest pass, and half-price for returning visitors.
Do I have to still maintain 6 feet apart if I am climbing with someone I live with or my significant other?
No. However, please make sure to respect the other guests in the facility and maintain at least 6′ apart from others in the facility.
