Are you conquering on Top Rope and ready for a new challenge? Learn how to lead climb! In short, lead climbing is a more advanced style of climbing that involves clipping your rope into gear on the wall, and, in essence, placing your own protection as you climb up the wall.
- Requirements: Able to display top-rope belay proficiency, ability to competently top rope routes with a grade of at least 5.9 without any falls, and own a lead harness and ATC. Participants can practice with a brake assisted device such as a Gri-Gri after first learning these skills with an ATC. Must be 16 years or older.
- Itinerary: The class will consist of climbing routes in the 5.7 – 5.9 range practicing clipping and lead belaying. The typical class length is about 2 hours.
- Cost: $150 for non-members, $99 for members.
Lead climbing lessons are taught as a private classes, ideally with 2-3 people. Lead ropes for the class will be provided by CRG.
