The four classes in our new Advanced Movement program are designed specifically to address problems climbers experience in what we consider the most turbulent portion of their climbing experience: the “moderate” grade range and what is likely to be a climbers first performance plateau. These classes build upon fundamental climbing skills and focus on expanding participants awareness of what is possible on the wall, their own limitations, and how to push past those limitations. The curriculum is broken up into 4 aspects of climbing that are critical to a climber’s long-term success: Dynamic Climbing, Static & Balanced Climbing, Proprioception, and Projecting.

DYNAMIC CLIMBINGThe Dynamic Climbing class focuses on the subset of movements that require the generation and control of momentum to propel you towards your target hold(s). Climbers will learn about deadpoints, pogos, dynos, and everything in between. The critical muscle groups used in Dynamic Climbing, and the exercises done to strengthen them, will be reviewed. STATIC & BALANCED CLIMBINGThe Balanced & Static Climbing class focuses on the subset of movements that require a slow, careful and tense approach, as well as a stable core and lower body. Climbers will learn to trust their feet and actively engage the critical lower muscle groups for a fine-tuned approach to balance, while exploring a variety of weight management and distribution techniques. PROPRIOCEPTIONProprioception is the awareness of position and movement of the body. This class is designed specifically to help climbers learn what their bodies are capable of, what their limits are, and how to start moving with specific intent on the wall. The goal is to make the exact movement you want to make. Use the calendar at the bottom of this page to select a class and sign up! |
PROJECTINGThe goal of this class is to help climbers refine their process of working on, or “projecting”, climbs they are unable to complete. Equal parts mental and physical exercise, the Projecting class will teach climbers to analyze both themselves and their projects critically, and it will impart techniques our industry professionals have developed during their own successful years of climbing.
