Are you a rope climber ready for a new challenge? Learn how to lead climb in our Lead Climbing Class!
Lead climbing is a more advanced style of climbing that involves clipping your rope into fixed gear on the wall and placing your own protection as you climb up the wall. The class will consist of climbing 5-6 routes in the 5.7-5.9 range, practicing clipping and lead belaying.
The Lead Belay Class requires the following pre-requisites:
You are consistently and confidently able to climb 5.10a or higher on our tallest walls.
You are Top Rope belay certified at CRG. (If you have not yet been belay tested, please take a belay test before signing up for this class.)
You have your own rock climbing harness (top-rope only harnesses are not acceptable).
You will learn to belay using an ATC.
Advance registration is required.
Please note that we must have at least 2 people registered to hold the class. If there is only one person registered for the class, we will have to cancel.
Not sure if you’re ready? Try top-roping a 5.9 on one of our tallest walls twice in a row. If you’re able to complete both laps without falling, you’re ready to go!
