Read on for answers to some of the most commonly asked questions we’ve heard since re-opening. Have a question that you don’t see below? Email us at hadley@centralrockgym.com.
How is the gym different after re-opening?
Some of the most notable changes are required face coverings, prominent signage, plenty of hand sanitizing stations, and increased air flow through the gym. We are also providing free liquid chalk to our guests. The cardio and free-weight stations have been rearranged to optimize social distance, and the water fountains are currently closed, however, you may use the water bottle re-filler.
Do I need a reservation?
Currently, members do not need to make a reservation in order to climb. Non-members including guests using member’s Guest Passes need to make a reservation online here.
I live with someone high-risk. What are you doing to minimize risk of COVID transmission?
We are closely following Massachusetts’ regulations which you can read about here. We are also self-imposing a guest capacity far below the state’s requirement to ensure that all our visitors can maintain a distance well above 6′ apart.
I’m visiting from a non-low risk state. What do I need to know?
Visitors (members and guests) from non-low risk states must meet the quarantine (14 days upon arrival) or testing requirements (receive a negative result within 72 hours of arriving in the state) before entering a Central Rock Gym facility.
I’d like to learn to belay. How do I reserve a lesson?
Belay Classes can be booked online here. Walk-in belay classes are not available at this time.
What kind of mask can I wear?
You may wear any surgical style mask, cloth mask, or vented mask with a filter. Gaiters, bandanas, scarfs, and masks with exhalation vents without a filter are not allowed.
I forgot my mask! Do you have extra PPE?
Yes. We are currently providing complimentary disposable face masks as needed.
Can I bring my kids?
Yes. Children who are old enough to wear face masks should do so. Please supervise them to ensure they stay at least 6′ from other guests at all times.
Is rental gear available?
Yes. At this time, we are asking everyone to bring their own gear for sanitary purposes. However, if you need rental gear, we will provide it.
Is loose chalk still allowed?
Yes, but we would encourage you to try out the liquid chalk placed conveniently throughout the gym. It works really well! Just make sure to let it air dry before touching any holds or pads. Liquid Chalk cuts down on air particulates and has a high alcohol content to help keep your hands more clean.
Where can I go to take off my mask?
Outside would be best. If you are able to maintain 12 ft apart from those around you, discreetly pulling down your mask to take a sip of water is perfectly fine.
If I am not a member, can I still come in?
Yes! We have day passes available for purchase starting July 9th, as well as a great membership deal where new members can climb for free for the rest of the month as long as they sign up for an additional month at full price. Non-members need to book their climbing sessions online here.
If I am a member, can I bring a guest for a first time visit?
Yes, all members get one guest pass per month. First time guests are free; returning guests can get a discounted day pass. Guests need to book their visits in advance online here.
Do I have to still maintain 6 feet apart if I am climbing with someone I live with or my significant other?
No. However, please make sure to respect the other guests in the facility and maintain at least 6′ apart from others in the gym.
Is it possible to stay longer than my allotted time slot?
Stay as long as you’d like! This includes non-member booked sessions.
