The Competitive Varsity Team is a select team of hard-working and passionate climbers. Climbers on this team are expected to have mastered fundamental technical skills and movement, while displaying coachability, a positive attitude, and a desire for growth. Climbers must be comfortable and confident in bouldering and top-rope climbing/belaying. Those ages 13 and up must also be proficient in lead climbing/belaying. Climbers must be self-disciplined about their training and passionate about climbing.
This team trains intensely to master competitive climbing mindset, strategy, and skills. Through structured training regimens consisting of advanced climbing technique drills, climbing-specific strength training, injury prevention exercises, strength workouts, and team building, climbers will work towards achieving their full potential.
From September through February, this team will focus on bouldering, and from February through June, sport climbing. This team trains in both the CRG Glastonbury and CRG West Hartford facilities, and our training culminates in required participation in USA Climbing’s local-, regional-, divisional-, and national-level competitions.
