Third of a 3 part Series: This workshop offers an in-depth exploration of the muscles of the “core” and how they relate to a functionally healthy body as well as their application in a typical yoga class. This workshop focuses on the anatomy and alignment of the muscles “beneath the six pack” that support the spine and hips, what it really means to “engage the core”, as well as the importance of a strong abdominal region is to injury prevention in yoga and fitness. Learn the importance of diaphragmatic breathing and its relationship to movement and core engagement. Practical instruction will be given on how to engage the core muscles effectively to explore more advanced yoga poses like handstands and arm balances. Learn new, creative core workout routines you can add to your home or gym routine that challenge familiar movement patterns to create new neural connections between the brain and the body.
